The recently released report "Weighing it up obesity in Australia'' listed 20 recommendations to improve the health of Australians.
Suggestions included developing better public health campaigns about obesity and the benefits of healthy lifestyles and tax incentives to improve the affordability of healthy food.
Dietitian and exercise physiologist Joanne Turner from Miranda's NuActive Health said a dramatic rethink was necessary to change the nation's unhealthy ways.

Joanne Turner is appointed a position on the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) Practice, Education and Professional Development Advisory Committee
The role of this committee is to provide advice to the DAA
Board on dietetic practice and continuing professional development (CPD) issues. Joanne is honoured to be part of this board and looks forward to attending the first meeting in Melbourne in April.
Paediatric and Maternal Health Interest Group of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA)
Joanne Turner is so passionate about spreading the word about the importance of establishing healthy food patterns from the first mouthful, she has initiated the start of a DAA Paediatric and Maternal Health Interest Group.
This group has proved so popular that within the first few months it already contains over 400 dietitian members. Joanne is immensely excited to be involved in this group and is proud to be the inaugral convenor of the group, aiming to provide dietitians with the needed network to spread the word about the importance of a healthy diet for mothers and their children. |
